Joseph was born in NYC in 1948 to a painter and a dancer. His life was always surrounded by creativity. Joseph studied fine art at the Art Student's League and graphic design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. Throughout he 70's & early 80's he worked in the advertising industry. Starting as a production artist and working up to Art director, then finally Creative Director/Production Manager. In 1986 He started his own studio in Princeton, NJ and pioneered computer based graphic design. After 7 successful years Joseph sold the studio and moved to Los Angeles, California and worked as a production consultant and freelance graphic designer.

Joseph began painting again in 1990 and in 2000 retired from the advertising world to dedicate more time to painting. Joseph now lives in Santa Barbara, California and is painting full time.
His love of our beautiful area has him painting plein air on the beaches, parks, creeks and many other locations. These outdoor studies are used eventually to become larger studio paintings.

Joseph has shown in many galleries in Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara. His paintings can be found in private collections nationally, He is a member of Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment, the Collectors Committee of the Contemporary Arts Forum, Webmaster for Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative and is currently curating art for the Office of the Mayor.
